Client: Unity Housing Association

Site: Quarmby, Huddersfield

Project Description: 9 New Dwellings

This project comprised the construction of 9 new properties (2 x 2B/4P and 7 x 3B/5P), complete with all associated new mains services and external works.

Prior to building works, the site was an unassuming piece of vacant land, containing a substation, a few self-seeded trees, a couple of parked vehicles, and, was in desperate need of an in-fill development.

The site ran parallel to Quarmby Road of which was a reasonably busy road and one that many locals, and indeed HGV’s used as a short cut to other surrounding areas, as a result this caused us numerous challenges in servicing the site with materials and new connections, as well as maintaining highway safety.

Foundations were semi rafts, sat on vibro piles, the build was then traditional cavity wall, external walls consisting of Marshalls Cromwell artificial walling stone to match the surrounding properties, concrete roof tiles, Upvc windows and traditional porch canopies.

Gardens were formed front and back along with off street parking.
